Newspapers Spreading Awareness Against Child Labor

Swiftly evading the car on one of the busiest streets of Delhi, two kids rushed towards the car, knocked on the car windows and offered the passenger some of the commodities like lighter, books, newspapers etc. the scene is very must observed in all metropolitan cities in India.

India is sadly the home for large number of child laborers in the world. In the past years, Child labor in Delhi and other tier 1 cities has turned into a rather obvious phenomenon to make children work.
From the road side panvala's to the Dhabas, tea stalls, restaurants and more, you will find children working for their livelihood. Recent study suggests that Child labor has been on the rise due to growing poverty and unemployment among Delhi population.

Poverty being the major cause behind the increased child labor in the country. Poor families send their child to work, just to get money for their survival.

Many children's from poor families either leave schools or never went there because their family cannot survive if they did not work. They are forced to bring money home after working all day long. Lack of worldwide education have also contributed to children leave schools, and enter the labor force.

The frequently increased gap between the rich and the poor, the rising expenses, privatization of basic services and the neo-liberal monetary policies cause major population out of employment and without basic needs.

Using children as domestic workers has been a growing phenomenon. In this situation, children's are often made to work without food, at very low wages. Indian Newspapers have revealed many such cases of physical, sexual and emotional abuse of child domestic workers in India.

Many multinational companies, without proper mechanisms employ children's to work in their factories.
Thanks to the news channels providing awareness against child labor in the country and also covering the real stories of child labor in India.

We often hear News illustrating the sad story of child labor, and how small children's are exploited for the sake of money and food. Despite many Newspapers advertisements and roadside hoardings clearly display messages to stop sending children's to work before the age of 9 but this neither lays any impact on the poor families who send their children's to work and nor on the companies who hire them at minimum wages.

Newspapers and electronic media are constantly covering News on child labor and creating awareness in the society, however, the actual number of child laborers goes UN-detected. Shockingly, Laws that are meant to protect children from harmful harmful labor are useless and not executed properly.
